The Mormonts aren't a major house of the continent of Westeros, but they nonetheless serve important roles in the story of Game of Thrones. Their sigil is a bear, which is fitting as all members of the house are said to have a gruff, grizzled, heavy appearance. One of those bear-like individuals is Ser Jorah Mormont, who, once exiled by Eddard Stark, now serves Daenerys Targaryen amongst the Dothraki. Daenerys isn't his only master though, as he makes frequent reports back to master schemer and eunuch, Varys, in King's Landing.
Jorah's father is Lord Commander Jeor Mormont of the Night's Watch. Though he is old, his is still a formidable presence, and struggles to keep the ragged Night's Watch as formidable as it once was. As the nobles of Westeros struggle against one another for control of the continent, Jeor Mormont and the Night's Watch prepare for a much more dangerous and crucial fight against the Wildlings of the North and the dreaded, monstrous White Walkers.
