Game of Thrones’ first season boasts its fair share of death, making it clear early on that it is in no way afraid of killing off major characters, and even going on to shockingly slaughter one of the show’s main protagonists. In the series’ sixth episode, however, we were actually shocked when a guy didn’t get killed.
Accused of the attempted murder of Bran Stark, Tyrion Lannister was held captive by Catelyn Stark and her sister Lysa Arryn in the towering fortress known as the Eyrie. The deck is stacked against the dwarf to begin with, and things don’t look any better when he elects to undergo trial by combat. With no one else willing to fight for him, the sellsword known as Bronn steps up, and manages to fight circles around a more heavily armored and better trained knight in Lysa’s service, winning Tyrion’s freedom as well as a fair amount of wealth for himself.
