A safecracker's idyllic retirement is interrupted by the sudden appearance of a batsh** crazy former colleague looking to recruit him for one last job.
Director Jonathan Glazer's thriller is a one-of-a-kind experience, almost unbearably intense (and often uproariously funny) as Ben Kingsley's psychotic Don Logan engages in a battle of wits, wills and sometimes fisticuffs with Ray Winstone's put-upon Gal Dove. Kingsley got all of the attention for his rather astonishing performance, but Winstone is just as good as the straight man - the result is a film you won't soon forget, unpredictable and powerful in its unique vision. Glazer's surreal flourishes come from his top-notch music video and commercial work - he's rather masterful at other filmmaking stuff like character and storytelling as well.
Jonathan Glazer (director), Ray Winstone, Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane, Amanda Redman, James Fox, Cavan Kendall, Julianne White, Alvaro Monje, Robert Atiko.
Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone serve up some rapid-fire quotes.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!What if the wonderfully profane thriller had been rated PG instead of R?
