Chris: That's
awesome. Speaking of Kenny, we've had Shield alumni, David Reese Snell, Benito Martinez shows up... and I didn't even realize
that was Ronnie! A couple of episodes in and my wife sees his name in the
credits. And I'm like "Wait a second...Ronnie! Holy shit!" And you've had Dutch
in Season 1... Have you tried to get Walton, CCH...?
Kurt: I actually
tried to get CCH this year!
Chris: In what
regard?
Kurt: We had a
role, again, I'm really bad with names. She's played in Episode 3, the woman
who had the kids. Initially, I wrote that wrote for CCH. But she was off doing
a movie so we couldn't get her. As much as I love him, the only person I
wouldn't put on that show is Chiklis. To
me, he's way too iconic in terms of The
Shield that it would be way too difficult. Hopefully I'll find something
else for CCH, I'd love to get her on the show.
Chris: That would
be awesome. Speaking of The Shield,
setting up the One Niner war at the end was kind of cool. The kingpin whose
daughter who got rundown... do you have a wish list? Because as soon as that
character was referenced, I paused it and said to my wife "Who are we going to
get? Who's it going to be?"
Kurt: I don't
know yet. I know circumstance will play big in this season and I wanted
something already hanging over Jax's head as he was sitting at the head of that
table. But, we'll really have to go in and look at the story to see how big the
role actually is, because sometimes it's really the circumstance that becomes
the catalyst more-so than the character. Once I know roughly how many episodes
it'll be, then we'll explore who we want and who we can get. Usually I'll start
with Sam Jackson and get somebody you've never heard of. But, a good actor
nonetheless.
Chris: I love the
fact that Sons takes place in the
same universe as The Shield. Any
chance with Bobby in jail maybe we'll get an Antoine Mitchell cameo or
something like that?
Kurt: I thought
about that, I think Antoine is still out there. Because of the One Niner
connect I thought that was the one thing that was a legitimate tie. The One Niners
was a gang I created on one of my episodes, but when I was going to use it from
The Shield, I talked to Shawn. For a
little homage, can I keep the One Niners alive? And you know, he was cool with
it, he thought it was fun. That's the kind of thing I'd never do it until I had
a conversation with Shawn about it and then it would really be about finding
out if Anthony was available.
