General Thomas J. Ryan, call sign "Blue Iguana," is the commanding officer of the 1st Special Actions Group, aka The Unit (the official cover name being the 303rd Logistical Studies Group). He has a longtime friendship with his Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Alpha Team, Sergeant Major Jonas Blane. During the first season of The Unit, Ryan was involved in a passionate affair with Tiffany Gerhardt, wife of one of Ryan's operatives, Mack Gerhardt. By the second season, Ryan broke off the affair with Tiffany and married Charlotte Canning, a Washington insider whom Ryan later divorces after she is caught selling secrets about the Unit to rogue CIA agents. A longtime Colonel, Ryan was promoted to the rank of General in the show's fourth season. He kind of looks like the liquid metal T-1000 from Terminator 2. Hmm...
