Simon Gruber is the revenge-minded brother of Hans Gruber, the German thief killed by supercop John McClane in the original Die Hard. Like his brother before him, Simon appears to be a terrorist but is actually a professional thief - while he's busy blowing up buildings and tormenting McClane with elaborate riddles, he's actually distracting the entire city from the real task at hand - stealing $140 billion in gold from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Simon is eventually undone by giving an aspirin bottle to McClane, who complains he's had a headache all day - the label on the bottle gives away the location of the villain's secret hideaway. Yippie-ki-yay!
