Neytiri is a Na'vi, a ten-foot-tall blue-skinned species who live in harmony with nature, worshipping a mother goddess called Eywa. The Na'vi live on the moon Pandora, where a colony of humans - with its own private military force - is mining a precious mineral known as unobtanium. When Neytiri rescues a human Marine, Jake Sully, from predators, she receives portents from Eywa and takes him to her tribe, the Omaticaya. Neytiri's mother Mo'at, the clan's spiritual leader, instructs her daughter to teach this human in their ways. Neytiri trains Jake in the rigorous physical abilities of the Na'vi and shares with him their spiritual beliefs, and soon the marine becomes disillusioned with the human world, where he is a paraplegic and under orders from the sadistic Colonel Miles Quaritch. An interspecies romance is in the cards, too.
