Max Rockatansky was a member of the Main Force Patrol (MFP), a Federal police force in Australia charged with tracking down the out-of-control members of a vicious motorcycle gang. The violence and madness ends up being too much for Max after his partner is burned to death by the gang and he retires from the MFP, looking to live a quiet life with his wife and son. After his family is brutally murdered by the gang, Max dons his former black leather MFP uniform and reinvents himself as Max Max, obsessively tracking down each gang member and making them pay for their despicable act. Max succeeds in killing off every single scumbag and drives further into the Outback without looking back, an emotionally broken man with nothing to lose.
