Eytukan was the patriarch of the Omaticaya clan, the mate of the clan's spiritual leader, Mo'at, and the father of Neytiri. He possessed great wisdom and compassion and loved every member of his clan, though he sometimes clashed with his headstrong daughter. He treated Jake Sully as if he were his own son, though he became enraged when he found out that Jake had been originally sent to infiltrate the Omaticaya clan on a mission to convince them to leave Hometree. Before Eytukan could have Jake and Dr. Grace Augustine executed, the RDA attacked Hometree, during which Eytukan was mortally wounded. As he lay dying, Eytukan gave his ceremonial bow to his grieving daughter, thus giving her responsibility for the Omaticaya clan's leadership.
