Emma Pillsbury is the guidance counselor of William McKinley High School. It's somewhat ironic (and more than a bit troubling) that such a neurotic woman is offering career and personal guidance to young people - Emma suffers from OCD, and is particularly wary of germs, going to great lengths to protect herself from contamination. Emma is also in love with a married man - Will Schuester, the high school's former Spanish teacher and current director of the glee club. Despite her mental and emotional limitations, Emma has a heart the size of Ohio itself, and is well-liked and respected by her students.
