Aramis has appeared in several Alexander Dumas novels, including The Three Musketeers and The Vicomte du Bragelonne. He is one of the Three Musketeers, along with Athos and Parthos, friends of the novels' protagonist (and unofficial fourth Musketeer), d'Artagnan. Aramis loves intrigue and women and lives in a constant state of dissatisfaction - he's always challenging himself and striving to reach new heights. Despite his somewhat selfish nature, he strongly believes in friendship and loyalty, never letting his Musketeers down. In The Man in the Iron Mask, an aging Aramis is now a Jesuit priest who is called back for one more round of Musketeering when a plan is hatched to free the imprisoned twin brother of the cruel King Louis XIV.
