Alvin Kurtzweil serves much the same purpose as Deep Throat in the first season of The X Files and the man known only as X in later seasons - a shadowy figure that shows up at just the right time at just the right place with just the right amount of vague information to give Fox Mulder as he continues his agonizing quest for The Truth. A character introduced in the first X Files movie, Kurtzweil is a medical doctor with knowledge of the deadly black oil, the means to transport the vile substance and the sons of bitches who have sold out the human race by helping a bunch of aliens take over the planet. Poor Kurtzweil is killed, of course, before he's able to share more of The Truth - the unfortunate fate of most of Mulder's mysterious contacts and mentors.
