Broken Arrow

Release date: February 9, 1996

The Pitch:

Two nuclear weapons are missing, and you can bet villainous Air Force rogue Vic Deakins has something to do with it.

Why You Need It:

Broken Arrow certainly isn't director John Woo's finest hour (or two), but as far as his American films go, it's actually pretty decent, with enough slam-bang pyrotechnics and the director's trademark neat-o visual flourishes (slo-mo? two-guns? You betcha!) to please the action fans. John Travolta chews the scenery as the villain, with both Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis struggling to keep up as the heroes (not quite action stars, those two). And, of course, this is the film in which Travolta sneers, "Yeah, ain't it cool?" - a phrase which sparked the creation of what is perhaps the most popular movie website of all time, Ain't It Cool News.

Talent:

John Woo (director), John Travolta, Christian Slater, Samantha Mathis, Delroy Lindo, Frank Whaley, Bob Gunton, Howie Long, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Jack Thompson, Kurtwood Smith.
