John Cena must survive a dozen deadly challenges if he ever hopes to see his kidnapped girlfriend alive again.
Renny Harlin directed Die Hard 2, but 12 Rounds is more like Die Hard with a Vengeance, with WWE superstar John Cena as a New Orleans detective plunged into a series of dangerous games by an international terrorist with a grudge. The set-up is simple and the action is non-stop, with Cena making for a fine action hero, Aiden Gillen oozing with villainous menace and Ashley Scott providing the eye candy in her second role as a wrestler's ladyfriend (following Walking Tall). 12 Rounds also delights in the many tricks up its sleeve - the film's playful (and sometimes sadistic) imagination is one of its finest qualities.
