Ever heard of MegaBloks? They’re like the poor man’s Legos, or the adult man’s Duplos. They pretty much put out plain ol’ happy smile time brick sets until they started to get licenses from the likes of Marvel (Lego has the DC license, though it doesn’t do as much with it as it should) and Halo.
Now they’re about to upgrade again with a new licensing agreement with Blizzard Entertainment. I know, Legos would be better, but they shy away from adult properties.
The partnership includes block toys based on “iconic locations, characters, and vehicles” from World of Warcraft and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The as-yet-unnamed toys will hit next summer, 2012.
Since Blizzard and Activision are the same company, does this mean we’ll start seeing MegaBloks based on Activision properties? What say you, would you play with Call of Duty and, uh, Prototype bricks? Wow, I can’t believe it, but the only hugely major thing Activision does anymore is Call of Duty. Other than that, it’s pretty much just yearly Transformers, James Bond, and Spider-Man sequels.
