Just after Return of the Jedi cooled off in theaters, George Lucas created two made-for-television movies based on, of all things, the friggin' Ewoks. According to the man himself, the only reason the films were forged was because his daughter loved the fuzzballs so much -- it was a gift from him to her. Caravan of Courage was the first and best of the two, with a family (fronted in terms of screen time by "Cindel," a young blonde -- think Drew Barrymore E.T.-era) who becomes stranded on Endor after a crash, with only the Ewoks to lend a helping hand. Most of the film has a lighthearted, almost documentary feel to it, but after a giant ogre (really giant -- like 10 times the size of the Rancor) kidnaps Cindel's parents, it's up to her, brother Mace (a Luke Skywalker ripoff) and a herd of cowl-wearing monkeys to save the day. "Caravan of Courage" arrived shortly thereafter, with everyone else in Cindel's family being slaughtered by a group of ugly-faced "Marauders" in the opening minutes. As the Marauders plotted even more bloodshed, Wickett seizes the opportunity to learn English (seriously), and Cindel enlists the help of a crusty but good-hearted woodsman named played by none other than Wilford Brimley.
