Back in 1984 when The Avengers consisted of the likes of Wonder Man, Vision and Beast and David Letterman was still considered funny, Marvel (during one of their old school "Assistant Editor Month" events) decided to have the two meet in this head-scratching crossover. Wonder Man gets a call from his agent informing him The Avengers had been invited to be guests on Late Night with David Letterman, and naturally, Dave's other guest just so happens to be Avengers villain Fabian Stankowicz. As expected, hijinx ensue, and Letterman winds up saving the day by bonking Stankowicz on the head with a giant doorknob. Sure, why not?
