Few Marvel characters have experienced the kind of aggressive retconning that Ghost Rider undergoes every few years. At first, Johnny Blaze made a deal with the devil – the actual devil – which led to him becoming Ghost Rider. But that was later amended so that the person he made the deal with was actually just a devil, a skeezy fellow by the name of Mephisto. That’s since been thrown into question, and unfortunately, you need a Ph.D. in Utter Bullshit to be able to figure it all out. But for our purposes, all you really need to know is: one of Ghost Rider’s primary villains is a guy who may or may not be the actual devil and that shit’s crazy.
