One of the first books to really establish Brubaker as a man to watch, Sleeper (with frequent artistic collaborator Sean Phillips) is a great introduction to his unique blend of superheroes and noir sensibilities. Agent Holden Carver has a serious problem - he's been placed undercover in an enormous criminal syndicate, but the only person who knows is in a coma. Now he needs to figure out a way to get out alive. Currently in development as a movie from Sam Raimi and Tom Cruise, it's one of the writer's strongest works.
