Mobb Deep were one of the hottest acts in the new wave of New York hip-hop, projecting a serious thug image to go along with their dark, hardcore flow. Unfortunately, things got a little too real in 2006 when the cops pulled over his Chevy Suburban to find the rapper squirming to hide something between the seats. The something was an unlicensed .22 pistol, and Prodigy (who had been busted before) was on his way to jail. The big house hasn’t mellowed him, as he’s been dropping venom on other hip-hop stars from the comfort and safety of solitary.
