Spielberg and Peter Jackson Serve Up a Limp Tintin Teaser Trailer

Despite every cool name in Hollywood (and England) attached to this trailer, it fails to inspire anything but a weak "meh."

Steven Speilberg, Peter Jackson, Edgar Wright, Joe (Attack The Block) Cornish, Steven (Doctor Who) Moffat.  These are the creative forces behing The Adventures of Titin: The Secret of The Unicorn.  And they have delivered a weak fart of a teaser trailer.

In a way, that's good.  It is important, and humbling, to remember that even the greats can screw up once in a while.

I have no way of knowing, of course, if the finished product will be bad (I doubt so, considering its pedigree) but, man, how'd they let this slide?

This short teaser trailer has not one breathtaking image.  There's one mildly amusing image - you can see it directly to the right.  (Brush + Mustache = LOL.  Always.)

This marks Steven Spileberg's first foray as a director into animation (though the characters in The Terminal sure were cartoons - zing!) and it feels like he's doing nothing to expand the medium's vocabulary.  'Cause I doubt "more uncanny valley" is what he was going for.

I'm going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and just let this one slide and wait for the arrival of the full length trailer.  As someone who doesn't know squat about Tintin other than he has a dog and is racist, I really need the marketing materials to sell me a little better.

Anyway, if you would like to be unimpresed, please press play.
