A heated race had director Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood and The Coen Bros' No Country for Old Men neck and neck at the 2008 Oscars, but it was the serious return of the beloved duo that swept up voters, leaving the epic story of oil and blood just a puddle on the floor.
