When news broke that Nic Cage and Werner Herzog were teaming up for a non-sequel to Abel Ferrara's very '90s indie hit, Bad Lieutenant, it smelled like a forgettable paycheck gig. The joke was on all of us when we saw this dirty and heartfelt tale of power, corruption and redemption.
Cage puts in one of his best performances as an unhinged drug abuser descending further into hell.
