Darkman, an underrated superhero film written and directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Evil Dead), puts Liam Neeson in the role of a Dr. Peyton Westlake —a scientist who, after getting severely burned at the hands of a ruthless gang, decides to fight crime. The role ended up being one of Liam Neeson's most challenging, as it required him to act under bandages and heavy makeup. Ever the professional, Neeson was still able to display Darkman's humanity through the facial obstructions, solidifying Darkman as one of the finest tragic heroes in film.
