Friendship is to Mortal Kombat what the Frank Grimes episode is to the Simpsons. Grimes, Homer’s do-good, but reap no reward rival, pushed the Simpsons to its established limits – and with Homer’s antics at Grime’s funeral, broke them. Friendships, this one particularly, showed how far the original idea of Mortal Kombat could go, broke that barrier and paved the way for a sh*t highway that followed.
