The 4 Heroes of Light attempts to simplify turn-based RPG gameplay and eliminate the repetitious feeling of random encounters. A character's class is determined by which “crown” they are wearing. For example, my main character put on the bandit crown which changed him into a thief class giving him the steal ability. Attacking enemies, casting spells, and using abilities all use up Action Points. Each of my characters built up one point at the beginning of each round. The command “attack” used up an Action Point while more complex abilities and spells cost two. I could use the point-free ability “boost” to charge my characters so they could use the higher cost abilities. During battle, my warriors automatically targeted enemies. In The 4 Heroes of Light, your party automatically targets enemies with the strongest attacks in an attempt to wipe out the biggest threat first.
