You wouldn't get far in the world of underground crime by being a giddy, giggling buffoon, but Claude from Grand Theft Auto III takes the strong, silent type approach to a whole new level. This guy talks to the don of the Mafia, works for the Yakuza for a bit and finally ends up working for the most powerful man in the city. How does this washed up grub on the underbelly of organized crime earn the trust of his employers and work his way up the ladder of power? By not saying a goddam word. Nods and awkward hand gestures obviously go a long way, because Claude became one of the best silent protagonists in video games thanks to his silent compliance.
