Much of what sets John Hughes' work apart are the quick, observational moments that may not necessarily advance the story, but add a richness and exaggerated verisimilitude to the world of the film.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the absolutely devastating first act take down of the middle class American school system in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Of the 500,000 snapshot moments in the first 30 minutes of this film, I've chosen Grace, Edie McClurg's Assistant to the Dean of Students, huffing White Out - mainly because it has been so long since I've used White Out and I've forgotten how great it was to get wasted on this stuff.
