Hewlett Packard's plot file format is HPGL and HPGL/2. Almost every illustration, CAE, and CAD program can output HPGL. HPGL is a convenient neutral format which can be useful for moving data across otherwise incompatible programs. The basic outlines are preserved, however most "intelligence" is lost.
