Using Remote URI/REST Request

To use a remote URI/REST request as a data source, follow these steps:

1. Select Remote URI/REST Request in the Data Selection dialog and click Next.

 The Browse URI dialog appears.

2. Complete the Browse URI dialog as follows:

Enter the URI that refers to the location of the data: Either specify the URI to the data or click image\img00242.gif to build the URI using the URI Component dialog as shown in Figure 120.

Protocol: Specify access method by which to reach the resource. HTTP, FTP, Mail and so forth.

Host: Specify the IP address of the host containing the resource by registered name or in dotted-decimal format. For example, example.com.

Path: Specify the path on the host to the resource.

Anchor: Specify the name of the data file to retrieve as the resource.

Configure the query for the URI: Use name-value pairs to specify sections within the resource to retrieve.

When you finish this dialog click OK. The URL you specified appears in the Enter the URI that refers to the location of the data: in the Browse URI dialog.

 

Click Next.

The Data Source Attributes dialog appears.

3. Complete the data source as described in the Creating a Data Source section of this document.
