2 schools to become active DIII members Sept. 1

The University of Hartford and Lyon College are set to become NCAA Division III members for the 2025-26 academic year

The University of Hartford and Lyon College are set to become NCAA Division III members for the 2025-26 academic year. Hartford is reclassifying from Division I, while Lyon completed the provisional membership process to move from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The Division III Membership Committee approved the division's newest members at its summer meeting in Indianapolis. The Division III membership will total 422 active member schools in 2025-26.

Additionally, Carlow (NAIA) and Penn State Brandywine (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) will be in the second year of provisional membership in 2025-26.

Regent University (National Christian College Athletic Association) and Johnson & Wales University Charlotte (USCAA) begin the three-year provisional membership process.

The Division III Management Council reviewed all membership decisions during its meeting Monday and Tuesday.

All changes in schools' statuses will take effect Sept. 1.
