For the third consecutive week, the Division II Administrative Committee took action to further assist Division II schools and student-athletes amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The committee addressed several policies and regulations pertaining to student-athlete reinstatement, recruiting and financial aid.
The group waived current requirements for spring sport student-athletes who received degree-completion awards for 2020-21 and were granted an extension of eligibility, allowing them to participate in their last season in spring 2021 and still receive the award.
This action follows the earlier decision to grant an additional season of competition for all spring sport student-athletes as a result of the cancellation of the spring 2020 season.
The committee Wednesday also issued the following clarifications regarding current policies and regulations:
- Confirmed that rules and decisions made by other divisions and organizations (such as the NAIA or junior colleges) regarding the use of a season of competition or 10 semesters/15 quarters in spring 2020 would follow the student-athlete upon transfer to a Division II school. Division II student-athletes who transfer to another Division II school also would retain use of the self-applied waivers.
- Clarified that blanket waiver applications for financial aid equivalencies apply only to student-athletes who would have exhausted their eligibility after the spring 2020 term. Additionally, this flexibility will apply only to student-athletes who remain at their original school.
- Clarified that institutional camps and clinics are not permitted during the recruiting dead period that has been implemented through April 15.

The Administrative Committee is composed of the chairs and vice chairs of the Division II Presidents Council and Management Council and one additional member of the Presidents Council. The committee is tasked with handling important Division II business in between quarterly meetings of the Presidents Council. It will meet next by teleconference April 1 to continue discussions and take further action as necessary in response to COVID-19 impacts.
