La famiglia Addams è un telefilm comico statunitense andato in onda fra il 1964 e il 1966.La serie creata da David Levy è ispirata all'omonima striscia a fumetti creata da Charles Addams (1913-1989), e pubblicata sul New Yorker.La famiglia in questione è composta da Gomez Addams (John Astin), ricchissimo e distinto gentiluomo amante dei sigari e con l'hobby di far saltare trenini elettrici, da sua moglie Morticia (Carolyn Jones), fascinosa dark lady sempre pallidissima e vestita di nero, e dai loro due figli, la piccola e sadica Mercoledì e il pingue Pugsley. Essi vivono in una enorme e fatiscente villa di stile vittoriano, decisamente sinistra, che ospita anche lo strampalato zio Fester (l'ex bambino prodigio Jackie Coogan), una non meglio specificata ma altrettanto bislacca nonnina ed un cugino, chiamato Itt, che parla un gramelot incomprensibile e di cui niente si vede a parte un enorme ammasso di capelli che ne copre interamente la figura. La famiglia ha come maggiordomo un gigantesco surrogato del (cinematografico) mostro di Frankenstein, chiamato Lurch (Ted Cassidy), e da vari anfratti della casa talvolta esce una Mano (mozza), a cui la famiglia si rivolge col medesimo nome. L'enorme e smisurata ricchezza della famiglia consente ai protagonisti di non lavorare mai e di coltivare le loro stranezze.

It is often compared to its working-class rival, The Munsters, which ran for the same two seasons and achieved somewhat higher Nielsen Ratings. For a short time in 1996 reruns of it aired on Nickelodeon.The Addamses are a close-knit extended family with decidedly macabre interests. They all have supernatural abilities, although no rationale for their powers is ever explicitly given.The very wealthy, endlessly enthusiastic Gomez Addams is madly in love with his refined wife Morticia. Along with their two children, Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Grandmama, they reside in an ornate, gloomy mansion, attended by their servants, Lurch, the towering butler, and Thing, a hand that usually appears out of a small wooden box. Occasionally, episodes would feature relatives or other members of their weird subculture, such as Cousin Itt or Morticia's older sister, Ophelia.
