Chained with log chain to pallets or a temporary structure made of pallets. Water trough completely frozen over and out of their reach. Fences made of razor wire and pallets. No food on the premises during any of the multiple inspections. No hay. No grain. Nothing to eat but a stray weed in a mud lot. These horses were left to starve day in and day out, in the elements. Deceptively thin due to their shaggy coats, the ribs and backbones of these horses all protrude. Not an ounce of fat. Accompanied by pot bellied pigs, many dogs, ducks, and chickens all in similar conditions or worse. They were removed by authorities with a warrant after 5 long years of public outcry. Finally, they get their second chance.
How You Can Help
1) donate $10, $15, $25, $100 or any amount higher or lower. Whatever you can reasonably afford. It will take $10,000 to nurse these horses to health, but you needn't worry about the entire $10,000. All you need to worry about is your part - what ever amount that is. You donate $25, your friend donates $10, your friend's friend donates $15, someone else donates $100, someone else donates $500. We all work together, doing our part. That's how these horses will get what they need... by you doing your part.

Where Your Money is Going
Cherry Ridge Stables has agreed to foster these animals, currently in dire condition, until they are healthy enough to be adopted by responsible owners. This will likely take a year. Cherry Ridge has agreed to donate daily stable care which includes sheltering, stall cleaning, turn out/excercise, grooming, and watering in this cold weather which means hand carrying buckets of water; 6-8 hours of daily hands on care. In addition, these horses will be worked with on the ground and under saddle, once they are healthy enough to do so to increase their chances at adoption and finding their forever home. Your donation will be going directly to Cherry Ridge to cover costs of hay, grain, medications, multiple veterinariany visits, multiple farrier visits, and deworming.
For this first month these rehabilitative expenses are estimate to (conservatively) run approximately $2,000. Costs for months 2-12 are estimated to be just around $1,000 per month.

While the animals were siezed by, and are under the umbrella of, the Humane Society of Allen County, HSAC does not have the funding to support this huge rehabilitation effort; therefore this has become an individual rehabilitation and fostering situation undertaken by Cherry Ridge Stables.
