Handlung :
Ein Mafia-Clan herrscht über Bombay. An seiner Spitze: der alternde und mächtige Mafiaboss Abbaji (Pankaj Kapur). Maqbool (Irfan Khan) ist seine rechte Hand und sein engster Vertrauter. Er hofft, nach Abbajis Tod die Führung des Clans zu übernehmen. Darauf hofft auch Nimmi (Tabu), Abbajis Mätresse, deren Liebe eigentlich Maqbool gehört. Verzweifelt intrigiert sie und stellt Maqbool vor die Wahl: „Töte Abbaji oder mich. Als sich auch noch der Geliebte von Abbajis Tochter als Emporkömmling entpuppt, brennen Maqbool die Nerven durch. Von Machthunger und Eifersucht getrieben tötet er Abbaji kaltblütig im Schlaf und tritt an die Spitze des Clans. Doch von einem schweren Gewissen und Verfolgungswahn geplagt sieht er keinen Ausweg und läuft in sein Verderben.
