Take Action Camps are week-long, social justice-themed summer camps, designed to give young people leadership skills, confidence and peer support to improve not only themselves, but their world. Varying in age from 9 to 18, participants come from around the globe, and spend their Take Action Camp experience learning leadership skills, exploring pressing global issues, volunteering in the local community and exploring their place within a worldwide social movement of globally conscious young people. Every year the program and new theme are chosen by RYLA Alumni, selected from previous year’s RYLA participants for their leadership skills.
Most of these youth have only very basic education levels, limited resources with which to carry out their projects and do not have a proper forum where they can learn best practices or develop their leadership skills.
The purpose of the EPICS Forum is to promote the values of the UNOSDP and the five concepts of EPICS - Environment, Peace, IT, Culture, and Sport. Held in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, the 13 day event will focus on the education of young community sports volunteers from different countries in the Asian and Oceanic region.
The only time they are not together is at night, where the women sleep on one side of the camp and the men on the other.
