The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events specialises in offering vocational courses that develop technical skills and knowledge alongside business acumen for management careers in the hospitality and tourism industries.
The Hospitality with Events Management programme reflects the varied nature of the work undertaken by venue managers and has been designed to develop knowledge of the events sector, an understanding of its client groups and an ability to tackle challenges of managing in the venue environment.
The Events Management programme has been designed to develop understanding and knowledge of events management, complemented by the acquisition of business management and organisational skills.
In promoting the development of appropriate skills, 'live projects' and event management case studies are employed, serving to bring the student into contact with professional practitioners within the events industry. Students gain exposure to the events industry through a mix of field visits, case studies, live project work and through the planning of a live event in year 2.

On completion of this Foundation Degree you can progress onto the final stage BA (Hons) Events Management at UCB. A wide range of diverse career paths are potentially open after completion of these degree and foundation degree course, within hotel, business centre, conference, convention or exhibition organisation. However, the scope of the events industry extends far beyond this to embrace cultural events (such as festivals, concerts and carnivals), sports events (including mega-events like the Olympics), and personal events (parties and celebrations).
The development of planning, organisational skills, the ability to work with clients and the development of business acumen are features of the Hospitality with Events Management programme. Alternatively graduates may look at working as a specialist event organiser or for roles within the wider hospitality industry.

Or, they move into work as specialist event organisers or different roles within the hospitality industry.
