English Language & Usage Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for linguists, etymologists, and serious English language enthusiasts. There is not a literal tunnel, it is saying that between the tank and the sloping roof there is a long and narrow dark place (dark because it is behind the cistern). A coiner is probably what would be called a counterfeiter today: someone who makes fake coins and attempts to pass them off as real.
I believe that a cistern is what I would call a water heater or a boiler: a tank that holds water which is heated for the purpose of providing hot water to the house, or for heating the house via pipes. The children are able to pass from house to house through the attic because they live in a row house, which is a series of independent dwellings that share a wall with their neighbors on either side. Is the difference of two irrationals which are each contained under a single square root irrational? I remember a while ago that Vancouver planning types where lamenting the fact that there was a lack of row houses in their city.
One of the things that I’ve been noticing lately in the Township of Langley is the development of fee-simply row housing. I know that City of Vancouver types always think that they are the centre of all things good with the world of urban living, but Langley is leading the region in providing a housing style that supports the livable region while providing the benefit of owning your own place.
Here you can find presentations, reports, photos, video, and other documents relating to transportation in the South Fraser region of Southern BC and beyond.

I am a Langley City Councillor, and advocate for creating sustainable and accessible communities.
Sustainability to me means building a community that will meet the needs of all who choose to live, work, or establish a business in their community today and into the future. Chicago's best rowhomes (there not even many Chicago rowhomes) pale in comparison to Philly or Boston rowhomes with their old historic colonial charm. Chicago's best rowhomes (there not even may Chicago rowhomes) pale in comparison to Philly or Boston rowhomes with their old historic colonial charm. Although, we must admit daydreaming a bit while avoiding certain death by ice on a 20 degree day! Not something we hear of much today, but in earlier times was a reasonably familiar sort of criminal. The collocation "box-room attic" is unusual, because these two words mean nearly the same thing.
This was partly to provide a head of pressure for taps and showers, and partly to guard against interruptions in supply (and in the case of hot tanks, to provide a reservoir of heated water for when you needed it quickly, as in a bath). It is much more common in speech than in writing, but of course this writing is meant to suggest somebody is speaking, and telling a story. An *attic is the space underneath the angled roof of a house, which is not usually suitable for habitation, but which can be used for storing little-needed items. Normally there is no way to pass between the homes of a row house without going outside, but sometimes there are passages or poorly-sealed doors between the houses in the attic or other little-used areas. Most British houses have a boiler, which usually delivers both heating and hot water: there may also be an immersion heater in the hot-water cylinder. Row housing is important because it provides the density required to support a transit-friendly, walkable, and a generally livable environment.
This is good news because it provides all the benefits of strata townhouses minus the drawbacks that come with strata living (fees and strata councils).
It means building a community where small businesses can succeed, which provides services for all members of the community, and that protects the environment.

North Howe Street from West Dickens (overlooking the south end of Oz Park) to West North Avenue is no stranger to classic row homes catching over a million dollars. I've been awarded Top 5% in sales volume for Chicago Association of Realtors every year from 2006-2015.
I have heard that US houses are generally heated by a furnace, and there may be a separate water-heater.
It also provides an opportunity for people to own a place of their own which is affordable and has a smaller environment footprint. To maintain a common design and good maintenance on row housings, a registration of party wall and common element maintenance agreement is attach to lots that are connected. It also means working hard to ensure that the services which a city provides remain affordable. Chicago does have nice residential architecture and it is arguably the best in the Midwest. It's really interesting because row housing has been around Metro Vancouver for a lot longer than most people think as the strata townhouse.
One interesting thing that came up in Langley council recently was fee simply row housing owners trying to remove visitor parking easements.
It doesn’t really exist too much in the City of Vancouver, but a good chunk of development is strata townhouses in Surrey and Langley. The irony is that these are the same people that complain about the lack of parking in their neighbourhoods. Of course if Willoughby actually had public transit (which is can support today accord to creditable research), it would become one of more sustainability parts of our region and parking would become less of an issue.
