Units of measure (UOM help define items you buy, sell, and manufacture in Kenandy. UOMs can measure quantity, weight, dimension, and volume. Kenandy also supports time-based UOMs that allow you to rent or lease products to customers. Based on your company's needs, your time-based UOMs can be measured in hours, days, weeks, or months.
You can customize UOMs to fit the needs of your company, and create conversions that help Kenandy to convert UOMs automatically when you do tasks and create transactions.
Start by defining the units of measure that you use, and then specify the conversion factor for each one. When you specify the conversion, the UOM Quantity represents the conversion factor. For example, 1 KG = 1000 Grams and 1 month = 30 days.
For situations in which the conversion factor changes depending on the item, you can create a UOM and apply it directly to an item.
When your Kenandy administrator loads initial data into your company file, a standard set of UOMs is included. You only need to add new UOMs if you're adding a new or unusual UOM to your business.
During Kenandy setup, you also load (and if needed, manually create) UOM conversions. For example, if you purchase eggs in dozens (DZ), but stock them and use them in work orders as eaches (EA), you set up Kenandy to automatically convert DZ to EA when you receive and put away eggs you purchased.
Kenandy creates the UOM.
If you need Kenandy to automatically convert this UOM to another UOM in certain situations, click Manage UOM Conversions to set up that conversion.
Kenandy can convert item quantities from one UOM to another.
Note: When you create conversions for packaging UOMs, you can't create a conversion that skips a level in the package class hierarchy.
For example, your hierarchy goes from level 1 = EA to level 2 = CS to level 3 = PT.
You can create conversions for EA > CS and CS > PT.
You can't create a conversion from EA > PT.
All, and click Go!Kenandy creates the UOM conversion rule.
You can select UOMs such as default purchasing and stocking UOMs for an item on the item master record, selling, dimension, and weight UOMs on both the item and product records, and default sales order dimension and weight UOMs for the company on the company record.
You can set up time-based UOMs to capture billing frequency information, and for renting products to customers by the hour, week, or month. Select Time as the UOM type, and select options in the Every and Recurrence fields. These UOMs are available for selection in the Billing UOM field when you create invoice grouping rules, and sales or rental agreements.
