The 1,711 small business decision makers surveyed all use at least one social media resource for business-relevant information.
Establish a presence on one or more major social networking sites and use this as a hub for corporate social media initiatives. Further investigate how their target audience is using Twitter for business today and begin developing a Twitter strategy.
One of the things that always seems to be missing from the use of social media is the creation and management of your own community. On another note…Our company has recently integrated a community section on our corporate website, which we use to actively participate on social networks and interact with our audience.
The most valuable use social media has for me and my business is creating and building a community, bringing together people with similar needs, thoughts and ideas. Offering webinars and podcasts in exchange for an email newsletter sign up is an excellent way to build a targeted prospect list for email marketing campaigns that target social media engagement ( contests, upcoming blog post publications, etc). Having a podcast really amazing for my small business (freelance writer) because it doubles the impact of having a blog. It is also because of its potential that more and more businesses, even the small ones, are trusting it a lot. And of course, we should not forget about the fact that there are already lots of social networking sites businesses can make use of. With all these amount of attention given by businesses to social networking sites, it is then interesting to ponder more about social media’s contribution to businesses. Of course, as a business owner, you want your business to get more exposure and therefore become more visible to your target audience. You have to make the most of it since according to research, social media actually consume people’s time online.
Social listening is what it is called, a process where you “listen” to people’s thoughts and insights through social media. Facebook is one of the leading social networking sites when it comes to the generation of leads. For example, you post something on your website and because it’s really cool and people like it a lot, they share it many times using their social media accounts. If we use the social media platform to build a better relation, customer loyalty will follow suit.

I think there are businesses that won’t work on Facebook and there are also other that will work perfectly. At the end of the day its not WHO is the best social network but how business owners can use these networks to generates sales and brand awareness for their businesses. Social media gives you so much exposure at a low cost, anyone who does not use them are not very bright and do not want to succeed! The overall average number of social media resources used by participants in this study is 5.9. We friends used Twitter & Facebook to market our small business that was an fast food joint (also serving Hookah). My one question is, is it really accurate to include the winners, podcasts and webinars, in the social media bucket.
Now, it is not just being used by people to connect to their family and friends who may be miles away; it is also being tapped by entrepreneurs to help their business as well.
Meaning to say, there is this bigger opportunity for you to let them found you online and therefore promote your business. Since it has a wide coverage, social media has the capability to influence people and convince them that certain products and services are worth buying. Still known as the leading social networking sites in the world today, Facebook has made selling even better because of its influence.
That is why, if you are a business owner who will use social media for business, it is worth noting that there are already different kinds of people there. And since people are spending more time for these platforms, it is no longer difficult to build a strong relationship with them. Let them feel that because of their support for your brand, they deserve these hot offers others cannot just get.
Meaning to say, the more active you get on social networking sites, the more searchable you become. Business owners should be able to maximize its power and take it to their advantage for their respective brands.
I personally love social media and it has helped me and my website in the many ways listed here. This does not mean that the average North American small business decision maker uses nearly six different social media resources to get the information they need to do their jobs on a day-to-day basis.

As with any marketing strategy, evaluation as a value add in the business plan is the first step.
It’s the passion, drive, interest and ease with which we embrace one medium over another that is the most effective. Sure they are digital media but aside from maybe commenting on iTunes, there’s not much conversation going on. Many business owners these days already know about this that’s why they also use social media for brand awareness.
But of course, no matter how negative some things are, they can still help you improve your business.
It is also a manifestation that indeed, social networking sites can help you generate targeted leads in your business which will ultimately results into more sales.
In 2013 alone, there was already 23% of marketers who actually gained more clients through the use of this social networking site. What’s more, you can make use of creativity to come up with a program to promote your business.
Even more, their decisions are usually affected by the thoughts and opinions of their family and friends who are so into social media.
It does, however, suggest that small business decision makers who DO turn to social media resources for business information use, on average, nearly six different sources.
