REMOVAL

1.
Disconnect negative battery cable.
2.
Remove the radiator cooling fan.
(Refer to 7 - COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - REMOVAL)
3.
Remove the accessory drive belt.
4.
Rotate the engine until the VM 9892 Crankshaft locking tool can be installed. Install the VM 9892 Crankshaft locking tool into the left side of the engine block, slightly rearward of the left
engine mount. Make sure that the outer portion of the tool threads into the block and the bolt threads into the crankshaft. If the bolt does not thread into the crankshaft, the crankshaft is not at 90 degrees
ATDC.

5.
Remove the front lifting bracket.

6.
Remove the Idler pulley bracket.

7.
Remove the CMP sensor (1).
8.
Remove the upper front cover (2).

9.
Remove the camshaft oil seal to expose the camshaft tone wheel.

10.
Install the camshaft locking tool onto the camshaft position sensor tone wheel.
11.
The engine is now locked at 90 degrees ATDC.

12.
Remove the crankshaft damper (1).
13.
Remove the lower front cover (2).

14.
Remove the timing belt tensioner.
15.
Remove the timing belt.
