INSTALLATION

1. Use the crankshaft bearing selection chart for main bearing selection.
(Refer to 9 - ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/CRANKSHAFT MAIN BEARINGS - STANDARD PROCEDURE)
2. Lubricate and install the crankshaft bearings. Make sure the thrust washer is not touching the engine block.
3. Install the crankshaft.
4. Install the main bearing caps in the same location as they were removed. The notches on the top of the bearing caps indicate their proper position. The front cap has one notch, the next cap two, etc.
5. Using the black number bubbles in the torque pattern, torque the crankshaft bolts to 50 Nm (36 lbs. ft.)
6. Using the white number bubbles in the torque pattern, Turn the bolts an additional 90 degrees .
7. Measure the crankshaft end play. Crankshaft end play must be between 0.1mm and 0.33mm (0.004in — 0.13in).
8. Install the connecting rod bearings.
9. Install the connecting rods. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/PISTON & CONNECTING ROD - INSTALLATION)
10. Install the balance shaft assembly. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/BALANCE SHAFT MODULE - INSTALLATION)
11. Install the upper oil pan. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL PAN - INSTALLATION)
12. Install the lower oil pan. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL PAN - INSTALLATION)
13. Install the front main seal carrier. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL - FRONT - INSTALLATION)
14. Install the rear main seal carrier. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL - REAR - INSTALLATION)
