ENGINE - 2.8L DIESEL

1.
Remove the intake air box.
2.
Remove the turbocharger air inlet.

3.
Disconnect the battery cables.
(Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/BATTERY SYSTEM/CABLES - REMOVAL)
4.
Remove the battery.
(Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/BATTERY SYSTEM/BATTERY - REMOVAL)

5.
Remove the front lower splash shield.
6.
Drain the coolant.
(Refer to 7 - COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE)
7.
Drain the engine oil.
8.
Evacuate the A/C system.
9.
Remove the lower air deflector from the radiator.

10.
Disconnect the exhaust system from the catalytic converter.
(Refer to 11 - EXHAUST SYSTEM/CATALYTIC CONVERTER - REMOVAL)
11.
Disconnect the oxygen sensors.
12.
Remove the catalytic converter to engine bolts.

13.
Remove the starter.
(Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/STARTING/STARTER MOTOR - REMOVAL)
14.
Remove the front tires.
(Refer to 22 - TIRES/WHEELS/WHEELS - STANDARD PROCEDURE)
15.
Remove the right front inner fender well.
(Refer to 23 - BODY/EXTERIOR/REAR WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD - REMOVAL)
16.
Remove the left front inner fender well.
(Refer to 23 - BODY/EXTERIOR/REAR WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD - REMOVAL)

17.
Remove the coolant hoses from the heater core.
18.
Remove the coolant recovery container hose.
(Refer to 7 - COOLING/ENGINE/COOLANT RECOVERY CONTAINER - REMOVAL)

19.
Remove the cooling module.
20.
Remove the fan assembly
(Refer to 7 - COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - REMOVAL)

21.
Remove the torque converter to flex plate bolts.

22.
Remove the bell housing bolts.
23.
Remove the transmission line bracket at the oil pan.

24.
Remove the bolt from the left engine mount.
25.
Remove the bolt from the right engine mount.

26.
Remove the A/C lines at the condenser.

27.
Remove the A/C suction line at the compressor.
28.
Remove the A/C discharge line at the compressor.
29.
Disconnect the A/C compressor connector.
30.
Remove the A/C compressor.

31.
Remove the left side charge air cooler hose.

32.
Remove the right side charge air cooler hose.
33.
Remove the transmission cooler lines at the transmission cooler.
34.
Remove the EGR vacuum control solenoid.

35.
Remove the power steering pump pulley.

36.
Remove the power steering pump and position aside.

37.
Remove the generator.
38.
Disconnect the oil pressure sender connector.
39.
Disconnect the EGR solenoid connector.

40.
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (1) connector.
41.
Disconnect the turbocharger actuator connector.

42.
Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.

43.
Disconnect the fuel pressure connector.
44.
Disconnect the fuel regulator connector.
45.
Remove the high pressure feed fuel line (1) bracket.
46.
Remove the high pressure fuel feed line (1).
NOTE:
Any time the high pressure fuel line(s) are removed, the fuel line must be replaced.
47.
Disconnect the throttle control solenoid connector.

48.
Disconnect the BMAP connector.

49.
Disconnect the ground strap between the cowl and hood.
50.
Position the engine wiring harness aside.

51.
Disconnect the glow plug harness connectors.
52.
Remove the vacuum tube.
53.
Remove the vacuum tube from the EGR valve.

54.
Remove the fuel lines.

55.
Remove the fuel return lines.
56.
Remove the transmission vent hose retainer.

57.
Install the engine lift.
58.
Remove the engine.
