REMOVAL


1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the disc brake caliper adapter (Refer to 5 - BRAKES/HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL/DISC BRAKE CALIPER ADAPTER - REMOVAL).
4. Remove the disc brake rotor, (Refer to 5 - BRAKES/HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL/ROTORS - REMOVAL).


5. Remove the wheel speed sensor (3)
(Refer to 5 - BRAKES/ELECTRICAL/REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR - REMOVAL).


6. Remove the center floor console
(Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/CENTER CONSOLE - REMOVAL).
7. Lock out the park brake system at the lever using a suitable tool (1) and pulling upward on the brake cable (3) (Refer to 5 - BRAKES/PARKING BRAKE - STANDARD PROCEDURE).


8. Remove the rear parking brake cables (2) from the equalizer.



9. Remove the parking brake cable (1) from the brake shoe lever (2) at the axle.



10. Remove the axle shaft (1)
(Refer to 3 - DIFFERENTIAL & DRIVELINE/REAR AXLE - 198RBI/AXLE SHAFTS - REMOVAL).


11. Tap the seal plate from the brake support (1) on the axle shaft (2).
12. Remove the support plate with the brake shoes (1) from the axle shaft (1).



13. Disassemble the rear park brake shoes.
