REMOVAL

1.
With transmission in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
2.
Remove brake component to eliminate drag.
3.
Remove propeller shaft at pinion flange.
4.
Rotate pinion gear three or four times.
5.
Record pinion torque to rotate (1) with an inch pound torque wrench (2).

6.
Hold pinion flange (1) with Spanner Wrench 6958 (2) and remove pinion nut and washer.
7.
Mark a line across the pinion shaft and flange for installation reference.

8.
Remove pinion flange (1) with Puller C-452 (2).
9.
Remove pinion seal with a seal puller.
