Getting to the centre
We fly into Madrid-Barajas Airport,
12km north-east of the city. You
can get a metro no. 8 to Nuevos
Ministerios station in central Madrid.
It takes under 15 minutes.
A slice of the city
Summer weather means late-night
drinks. So head to the squares of
Plaza Santa Ana or Plaza Mayor.
Eating out
Madrileños are passionate about
meat. At
Cruz Blanca

Getting to the centre
You can get a Torp Ekspress bus from
the airport (Sandefjord Torp) to the
Oslo bus terminal. One ticket is 180
Norwegian kroner (€33). The journey
time is around one hour, 50 minutes.

Oslo comes alive in summer. The
city is filled with open-air concerts,
theatrical performances and music
festivals, catering to a range of tastes.
Eating out
With seating for over 200 outdoors,
stunning views of the Oslo Fjord and
one of the best maritime menus in
the country, little wonder
Lofoten
(lofotenfiskerestaurant.no) is
permanently popular.
City suggestion
Walk along the banks of the
Akerselva River
that runs through
the centre of Oslo. It’s 8km long
and features waterfalls, forestry,
swimming areas and nature trails.
And finally…
Visit the
Øya Festival
(7-11 August,
oyafestivalen.com) in Oslo’s Medieval
Park where headliners include the
Stone Roses and Björk.

Malpensa airports and Milan city
centre. The cost is €10/€20 return.
From Malpensa you can get the train
from Terminal 1 to the city centre, it
takes half an hour and is €10.
