DESTINATIONS
London & Lviv

Transfer from Lviv International

more than 100 hryvnia (€8).
A slice of the city
Ukraine’s cultural capital is awash
in arts events this September with a
whole host of festivals being hosted
in the downtown area. Expect to see
streetside performance art around the
Lviv Old Town amid what promises to
be a carnival atmosphere.
Eating out
Darwin Restaurant
(6 Shevs’ka
Street, +38 032 294 8205) is a
homage to the Victorian England and
a place to escape the bustle of Lviv’s
cobbled streets. It has an excellent
cheese selection.
Gasova Lampa
or
Gas Lamp Restaurant
(20 Virmenska
Street, +380 32 236 7550) tips its
hat to the 19th-century Leopolitan
scientist credited with inventing the
world’s first gas lamp. It doubles as
a museum so you can explore local
history between courses.
City suggestions
Vienna Coffee House
at 12 Svobody
Avenue is the daddy of cafés in a
city devoted to coffee culture, and
is directly behind the Shevchenko
monument.
Robert Doms Brewery
Bar
at 18 Kleparivska Street offers a
taste of old school Habsburg Lviv, in
a cavernous underground beer cellar.
And finally...
Ukrainian go to the polls in October
so expect much street-level oratory.
