Itwas the thepolarbears, theshotguns, the
windsweptglaciersand theabandonedRussian
mining towns thatpiquedour interest.Weexpected
it tobespectacular–butalsoasortofnovelty trip,
wherewe’d take Instagramphotosofpolarbear
warningsignsandsendpostcards from theArctic.
We foundall this,but itwas justa fractionof
whatmakesSvalbardsuchanexcitingandspecial
place.Yes, there’sa“Holycrap”aroundeverycorner:
themuffledbeautyof travellingbydogsled; the
