THE BELLBROOK
This new restaurant overlooking
Wyndham Street is much
more than your run-of-the-
mill Antipodean barbecue
spot, taking its cues from the
melting pot that is modern-day
Australia. The décor is warm
and rustic while the food is rich
and not for the faint-hearted.
Grilled sardines, Dad’s pickled
octopus, smooth potted chicken
liver pâté and delicious black
pork scotch eggs make up the
list of starters, while the mains
run to delicacies such as creamy
truffle and mushroom pasta,
pan-fried kangaroo loin and a
moist and meaty barramundi
cooked in bark leaf with honey-
roast carrots. The Bellbrook also
offers a killer bloody Mary and
there’s a decent selection of
wines starting at just HK$160.

Bottoms Up
ITCHI
This place pulls in the after-
work crowd. It’s rough and
ready, with a few tables inside
and seats outside on the street
for dedicated smokers and avid
people-watchers. It’s located on
Hollywood Road so there’s a lot
of foot traffic, made up mainly
of those who failed to get a seat
at nearby 208. The real draw of
this place, however, is the great
selection of draught and bottled
beers – with a wide range of
ciders, stouts, ales and bitters.
For those feeling peckish or
downright famished, the list of
snacks includes chicken wings,
risotto and pizza. The toilets are
great, too. Try humming, and
when you reach the right level
and pitch, the whole cubicle
starts to resonate.

ACCRO
Arguably the best coffee haunt
in Hong Kong, this small space
in Long Ping (all the way up in
the New Territories) has just
a handful of tables and is run
by Pinky Leung and Tsuyoshi
Mok, both of whom are genuine
coffee experts.
