“Itwas 1979. Iwasa24-year-oldactor, newlymar-
ried, and theyofferedmywifeandmea free trip toHawaii—and

play?’ I askedhim. ‘Nope. I just love theblues,’ he said. Then
hegotback inhiscar anddroveaway. That’swhat theCross-
roads is like.”
